ANA Safe Patient Handling guidelines: aligned with the Uplift program

In 2013, the ANA released Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) guidelines to increase awareness about safe patient handling and mobility and to promote patient and caregiver safety.

The ANA outlines eight standards that are needed to effectively roll out a safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) program within an organization. Listed below are the eight standards and how the Uplift program appeals to each of them.

Uplift is a breakthrough program designed to protect patients and clinicians. It mirrors the American Nurses Association (ANA) safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) guidelines to integrate safe patient handling, falls management and early mobility into one united initiative.1
