ENFit® enteral feeding connectors

Making safer connections

We all play a role in ensuring a world full of good health, safety and security. As a company and integrated partner supporting health systems and their patients, Medline has spent more than 50 years making healthcare run better. Our efforts extend beyond our products and services and into the communities where we live and work, as well as low-resource communities around the world.

98%

of patients receiving enteral nutrition experience disconnections due to legacy stepped connectors.1

An innovation in design and safety

ISO-80369-3 is the standard created to establish secure and unique designs for enteral medical devices and accessories —including the ENFit® connector. ENFit® addresses patient-side connections between feeding tubes, administration sets, medication, flush and bolus feeding syringes and other enteral devices.

The ENFit® design features a reverse luer-lock connector—with twist-in functionality rather than the friction-held legacy connector.

Making the transition to ENFit®

At first, transitioning to ENFit® will require ENFit®-compatible connectors as well as transition connectors. Most manufacturers make both ENFit® and legacy devices but will make a complete transition to ENFit® connectors in the future. Due to the reverse luer lock connection, feeding tubes and medication ports will now require ENFit® devices. ENFit® will not fit into tubes that aren’t specifically designed for enteral feeding.
