New partnership to offer hospital online reporting tools to track purchases, usage, pricing and shipment status
Mundelein, Ill., Feb. 29, 2016
As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, increasing risks to revenue streams have transitioned the supply chain from a simple transaction into a strategic operation. To help control and manage data to fulfill financial demands of its facility, Memorial Hospital at Gulfport recently signed a five-year prime vendor deal with Medline, valued at $55 million. The agreement includes online tools to help the healthcare organization manage its total expense budget.
Medline will provide the multi-specialty medical complex with an extensive portfolio of essential medical supplies and solutions that will better position the system to enhance patient outcomes, as well as streamline supply chain operations and manage costs. As part of the deal, Memorial Hospital at Gulfport will utilize the medical supplier’s online reporting tool called Medline INSIGHT to get a better understanding of general and specific information about purchases, usage, pricing, orders and shipment status. Users can utilize interactive dashboards and run reports, including total spend per month by facility, department, product category, vendor/supplier, yearly and monthly usage reports and more.

“Medline is uniquely structured to invest in data management solutions to help drive the success of Memorial Hospital at Gulfport,” said Andrew Briggs, divisional vice president of the Southern Gulf Coast, Medline. “Through the exclusive distribution partnership, we are committed to providing industry expertise that will enhance the facility’s operational efficiencies and protect revenue.”
Building Upon Trust
This partnership may be new, but for David Mimms, the hospital’s director of supply chain and logistical services, he worked exclusively with Medline in previous supply chain roles at other Mississippi healthcare organizations. That’s why he presented Memorial Hospital with the prime vendor opportunity to build upon Medline’s proven track record of delivering high quality products, industry knowledge and supply chain expertise.
“As one of the most comprehensive healthcare systems in the state, it’s important that we align ourselves with vendors like Medline who can deliver quality products, as well as clinical and supply chain solutions to help us increase efficiencies among our facility,” said Mimms. “We are confident that Medline’s dedication to helping us manage the increasing complexities of supply chain requirements will lead to a long-standing, prime vendor partnership.”
Licensed for 445-beds, including an inpatient rehabilitation unit, a behavioral health facility, satellite outpatient diagnostic and rehabilitation centers and more than 95 Memorial Physician Clinics, Memorial Hospital at Gulfport offers several of the region’s most comprehensive clinical programs, such as emergency medicine; women and children services; orthopedic services; medical rehabilitation; cardiovascular services; neurosciences and oncology. Additionally, Memorial provides medical specialties unique to the coast: pediatric subspecialties, Neonatal ICU, state-designated Level II Trauma Center, and Mississippi’s first nationally certified Primary Stroke Center. Memorial offers three-dimensional imaging, electronic medical records and advanced surgical techniques, including CyberKnife® and the da Vinci® Si HD™ Robotic Assisted Specialty Surgery System.
The contract is effective through March 31, 2021.
