Dale BratzlerDale Bratzler, DO, MPH, is the Medical Director of the Hospital Interventions Quality Improvement Organization Support Center and the Hospital Quality of Care Measures Special Study located at the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality. In these roles, he provides clinical and technical support for local and national quality improvement initiatives including the Medicare National Pneumonia Project and the National Surgical Care Improvement Project. He is a Past President of the American Health Quality Association and was recently appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to the National Advisory Council for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.Dr. Bratzler has published and presented locally and nationally on topics related to healthcare quality, particularly on improving care for pneumonia, increasing vaccination rates and reducing surgical complications. Dr. Bratzler received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri, and his Master of Public Health degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Public Health. He is board certified in internal medicine and an adjunct associate professor of health administration and policy at the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health. |

Andrew KramerAndrew Kramer, MD, established the Division of Health Care Policy and Research in the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver in 2001. He is currently head of this division. He was also named the first recipient of the Peter W. Shaughnessy Endowed Chair in Health Care Policy.Dr. Kramer’s research interests focus on strategies for improving care provided to frail older adults across the healthcare continuum. Through his division’s research, faculty have influenced state and national policy in the following areas: quality assurance and improvement strategies for nursing homes and home healthcare, care transitions following acute hospitalization, cognition and its impact on health, ethnic disparities, nurse staffing, rehabilitation and healthcare reimbursement. Dr. Kramer, who has authored more than 90 publications and policy reports, is a frequent advisor to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, Senate Committee on Aging, and the Institute of Medicine. He is a highly regarded teacher and mentor, training numerous fellows and faculty, many of whom have established independent research programs at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. |

Diane KrasnerDiane Krasner, PhD, RN, CWCN, CWS, BCLNC, FAAN, is a board-certified wound specialist with extensive experience in wound, ostomy and incontinence care. She is co-author of the consensus paper “Implications of the CMS Inpatient Hospital Care Present on Admission Indicators/Hospital-Acquired Conditions Policy.” She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a Wound and Skin Care Consultant in York, Pennsylvania and works part-time at Rest Haven - York as the WOCN/Special Projects Nurse. A researcher who focuses on wound pain, palliative wound care and legal issues related to wound care, she has numerous publications in wound care literature and lectures nationally and internationally on wound and skin care.Committed to continuing education in her field, Dr. Krasner
currently serves on the editorial boards of WOUNDS, Kestrel
Wound Product Sourcebook, The International Journal of
Wound Care and World Wide Wounds. She is also the lead coeditor
of Chronic Wound Care: A Clinical Source Book for
Healthcare Professionals (4th edition, 2007, HMP
Communications). Since 1992, Dr. Krasner has served on the
boards of directors and as an officer of several national wound
care organizations, including The American Academy of Wound
Management, The Association for the Advancement of Wound
Care and the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel. |

Michael RaymondAs CMO for the Rush North Shore Medical Center, Dr. Raymond implemented a quality improvement paradigm that established an effective process for collecting measures and reporting performance and encouraging employee feedback. Previously, Dr. Raymond served as Medical Director of the Physicians Hospital Organization (PHO) of the Rush North Shore Medical Center. In that capacity, he managed all aspects of care, including contracting, utilization management, pay-for-performance initiatives and outcomes measurement. During his tenure, PHO has consistently exceeded its performance targets. Under his leadership, the Rush North Shore PHO became one of the first integrated delivery systems in Illinois to implement a Clinical Integration program using physician profiles and report indicators of performance. Dr. Raymond is also an expert in the key performance indicators (KPI) from Medicare commercial payors and other external review agencies. Dr. Raymond received his BS from Bradley University and his MD from the Universidad Autonomo De Ciudad, Juarez, Mexico. |

Heidi WaldHeidi Wald, MD, MSPH, joined the Divisions of Health Care Policy Research and General Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in January of 2007. She also serves as the Director of Research for the University of Colorado Hospitalist Group and the Co-Director of the Acute Care for Elders Service. Dr. Wald's academic interests focus on the quality of care of the geriatric patient in the hospital setting. Her recent work has examined process-outcome relationships in postoperative care for this population. She has published in the areas of postoperative infections, hospital safety, sentinel event reporting and root cause analysis.Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Dr. Wald was a founding member and director of the Hospitalist Group at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and she completed her residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wald subsequently completed both a geriatrics fellowship and a NRSA Primary Care Research Fellowship at the University of Colorado at Denver. |
