Medline Launches Medline University
Online Continuing Education Program Offers Wide Range of Affordable Clinical Courses
Monday, December 11, 2006 —
Mundelein, Ill. - Medline Industries, Inc. the nation's largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies announced the launch today of Medline University - an affordable new online continuing education resource for clinicians.
Many states require nurses to take continuing education (CE) courses to annually renew clinical licensure and certification. In addition, nurses with specialty certification such as perioperative and advanced wound care nurses are also required to take a significant number of CE courses each year to maintain specialty certification. Medline University offers a wide array of courses to ensure that clinicians can meet those licensure requirements. The program currently provides more than courses on subjects ranging from advanced wound care to infection control to pandemic preparedness.
"We understand the challenges that our hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare customers are facing when it comes to providing affordable continuing education for their staff," said Margaret Falconio-West, RN, vice president, Medline Clinical Education. "We have tailored our programs to meet the most critical of those needs - including the ability to track their programs and get their certificate immediately upon course completion - all online."
Medline University features:
- Course tracking - an individual, or healthcare facility can track all-course completion for users.
- The program also allows the user to track CE courses taken externally.
- Easy-to-access, pre-recorded classes that can be taken via the Internet.
- Self-paced courses - This is important because many clinicians on a tight schedule are only able to take a portion of a course at a time.
- The programs will allow the student to start and stop and then continue where they left off - without losing their previous work.
- The site also provides Medline product training and in-service videos. While not intended for CE credit the in-service classes provide a great way for clinicians to learn more about how and when to use a particular product.
