Premier Awards New Three-year Agreement to Medline for its Innovative Tissue Adhesive

Octylseal aids wound closure and provides effective suture replacement

The Premier healthcare alliance awarded a new agreement to Medline Industries, Inc. for its octylseal™ tissue adhesive, an innovative new product that provides a non-invasive option to sutures. The three-year agreement, which begins April 1, 2012, will provide significant savings to Premier's membership of more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals and 80,000-plus other health care sites.

Octylseal is a wound closure tissue adhesive that provides a strong and safe alternative to topical sutures. Octylseal is also used as a microbial barrier or dressing. Octylseal can help reduce the time patients spend in the operating and emergency room and eliminate several challenges, such as surgical site trauma, inflammation, and other complications often seen with traditional suturing.
