Biodegradable
The materials will break down and return to nature within a reasonably short time after customary disposal.

Recyclable
Products can be collected, separated or recovered from the solid waste stream and used again, or reused in the manufacture or assembly of another package or product through an established recycling program.

Recycled
Products are made from items recovered or separated from the "waste stream" that are melted down or ground up into raw materials and then used to make new products.

Renewable Source
The supply grows or replenishes itself with time (trees, grasses, plants, etc).

Compostable
Products or packages that will break down, or become part of usable compost (for example, soil-conditioning material or mulch), in a safe and timely manner in an appropriate composting program or facility.

Source Reduction
Reducing or lowering the weight, volume or toxicity of a product or package. Source reduction claims must qualify the amount of the source reduction and give the basis for any comparison that is made.

Repulpable
The process of converting paper into good quality secondary fiber.

Reclamation
The gathering and processing of textile waste material to manufacture new textile products.

Dye-Free
Elimination of the manufacturing process which uses dyes or bleach to alter color of the finished good.
