GUIDELINES

Brief Application

RECOMMENDED FOR:

• Residents who experience chronic diarrhea

• Residents with combative behavior

• Residents with lower extremity contractures

MAY NOT BE RECOMMENDED FOR:

• Extremely obese residents (recommend 2-piece system)

PREPARATION FOR CHANGE:

1. Provide privacy for resident

2. Have supplies ready (peri-care products, clean incontinence products)

3. Have receptacle for disposal

4. Wash hands and apply non-sterile gloves

FOLLOW THE GENERAL APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

Use the correct size brief

1. Remove soiled product and discard

2. Complete peri-care and skin care according to facility protocol

3. For Molicare Briefs only use lines on brief to ensure “perfect fit” (Use the lines for tape placement.

Target lines should be straight and tape tabs should be equal on each of side of brief and positioned

within the third set of lines. If the tabs are in the set of four lines, or meet in the middle, consider

downsizing brief.)
